Coverking has today become the leading brand in the world for outdoor and indoor custom car covers, seat covers, dash covers, floor mats, sunshield and other auto accessories. But the history of the company is interesting too.

Coverking was established in the year 1986 by an Industrial and Electrical Engineer in Southern California. The founder of the company was engaged as an Industrial and Electrical Engineer in the Aerospace Defense industry in Southern California. Till then, the car cover industry was relatively backward and used to practice the cut-and-sew custom methods. However Coverking changed all that. The acquired knowledge and experience of working for decades with the most advanced and sophisticated defense weapons systems was incorporated into the making of car covers to modernize the industry and offer the customers a better value for money.

And as a result of the various innovations brought in, Coverking started to grow quickly. The company began to purchase several automotive companies, and some of them even dated back to 1974.

Coverking has always believed in innovation and the use of the latest technological breakthroughs. And so, the company purchased advanced CAD/CAM systems that were originally developed for the aerospace industry for the making of their Custom Dash Covers. At that time the production time in the Dash Cover market was 30 days but the industry was content with this. Coverking reduced this production time of the custom, one-off product to just 1 day and this naturally shook the industry.

But that was not the only thing that Coverking did. The use of CAD and CAM systems ensured that the output was accurate and precise and the levels of pattern quality produced were high enough for the industry to have never seen it before. The introduction of automation in the making process ensured that Coverking was able to take efficiencies to a previously unattained level and the resulting output was a better fitting product and that too in less time and money. The competitors stood no chance.

Happy with the success formula, Coverking applied the same principles in the making of Custom Floor Mats, Custom Car Covers, Custom Seat Covers and Custom Sunshields. The same was the case here too. Coverking raised the industry standards and was able to enhance its market share as well.

And to this day, Coverking continues to enhance efficiency and quality and reach out new markets where there is room for improvement. Coverking still has the manufacturing base at California and remains committed to its customers, suppliers and employees.
